As Founder of Monsarratt Specialist Dyslexia Services, I, Sarah-Jane Monsarratt, am passionate about providing a responsive and professional service.
I am a highly qualified and experienced dyslexia and dyscalculia assessor and consultant based in the North East. I hold a Level 7 Diploma in Assessing & Teaching Learners with SpLD and an Assessment Practising Certificate (APC). I have a wealth of knowledge in supporting pupils with dyslexia and dyscalculia.
I am fully qualified to undertake full diagnostic dyslexia, dyscalculia and Post 16 DSA (Disabled Students’ Allowance) assessments. I receive requests for assessments for children and students in a range of settings from Primary Schools to Further Education establishments. As a specialist SpLD assessor and teacher I aim to provide a high quality, professional yet friendly service to both parents, students and education providers.
Over eighteen years’ experience as a SENCo in both Primary and Secondary Schools enables me to advise teaching staff on a wide range of suitable evidence-based interventions and strategies. I also have over thirteen years’ experience as an Advisory Teacher, specialising in Specific Learning Difficulties. During a local authority audit, my Outreach support was described as ‘exemplary’.
Assessments can be commissioned independently by parents or by schools.
Referrals from schools can request various degrees of involvement. I can deliver training to teaching or support staff, carry out a full Literacy or Maths assessment with a pupil, undertake Access Arrangements and model appropriate teaching interventions and/or meet with parents. I also offer support to newly appointed SENCos.
Many of the schools I have worked with have monitored pupil’s attainment following staff training on interventions and have often witnessed accelerated progress.
I endeavour to do the best I can to ensure all pupils can celebrate success and fulfil their academic and personal potential.
